This is a non-governmental organization created in Petrópolis to assist poor communities in areas like community formation, childcare centers, and popular education, especially for needy boys and girls. Other areas are: organizing practices focused on concrete service of the demands of the poor, such as the building of houses though community volunteers, community pharmacies of phytotherapy (natural remedies and homeopathy), creation of small, self-administrating cooperatives, and the introduction of ecological projects for the treatment of water and the containment of erosion. This non-governmental organization is also open to what has been conventionally called popular diplomacy. This deals with bringing in foreigners, generally interns, who would like to work for a certain amount of time in the communities, and carrying forward a new vision of solidarity and globalization developed from below, from the perspectives of the poor.
